Impressions of Nostalgia
Originating from Taiwan, this restaurant in Vancouver offers hometown dishes to both Taiwanese immigrants who desire the taste reminiscent of their hometown and to other residents of Vancouver who crave Asian cuisine and decor.
This restaurant features pendant lights that mimic sky lanterns, a common ornament for the Taiwanese. Dressed with traditional Taiwanese Hakka printed material, the lights bring another element of nostalgia to the space as they hang, scattered throughout the lofty ceilings, representing their release.
These lanterns symbolize hope and peace, carrying wishes that are written on them. The higher in the sky the lantern reaches, the greater the chance that the written wishes come true.
